Mahi Hi there, I realize that the Dokan theme is strong because of the Seller Frontend Dashboard for WooCommerce. You guys really should have been writing that as a PLUGIN! A plugin you would have sold thousands of times more on ENVATO and everyone would have been able to use their own preferred theme! But as this is not the case I need to at least be able to change some more things in the theme to make it more usable... > Cannot change Top Nav Menu Color from grey? > Cannot remove category menu on Homepage? > Cannot remove sidebars on any page, even on pages set to full-width? > even though no widgets are set the Search, Meta and Archive is always showing up! > How to add my own slider on Homepage and remove the spacer of the old? > How to change the image sizes of the products? (Your theme overrides the WooCommerce Settings, why?) > There is no documentation how to use these widgets setup! > WooCommerce Shop Page not found, even if it is set correctly? Please let me know how to solve these issues! Best regards, Thorsten

Hello Thorsten,

We thought about plugin as first place, but later decided to go for an app theme rather than plugin because of stability.

From latest version (v1.0.4) Dokan is much more child-theme friendly and team is working hard to make it more friendly including adding more Woocommerce theme developers on board. So, very soon hopefully we will see few major improves and new stuffs 🙂

For all above mentioned features i will recommend you to make a child-theme of Dokan.

Steps:

1. Copy Dokan folder and rename it anything (ex: dokan-child)

2. Upload it to your theme folder.

3. change your style.css file accordingly: http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes

example:

/*
Theme Name: Dokan Child Theme
Theme URI: http://wedevs.com/theme/dokan/
Description: A child theme for Dokan
Author: Wedevs Team
Author URI: http://wedevs.com
Template: dokan
Version: 1.0.0
License:  GPL
*/

4. Now start changing your child-theme files and others.

So, this way even if you update Dokan main theme you will not loose your changes and others.

Hope it will helps.

Regarding Widgets: go to Appearance > Widgets

Woocommerce shop page: have you created Woocommerce pages and setup from Woo settings accordingly?

Also, make sure to change your permalinks to based on Products.

let us know how you did you go .
