Got a similar problem with another two plugins (not related to this one) that were updated. Instead of giving a message to update, the plugins deactivated. After the upgrade, the plugins didn't work anymore.
I've pushed update to the free WP User Frontend plugin, since the plugin folder name is different for Pro (wp-user-frontend-pro) and Free (wp-user-frontend) plugins, WordPress.org should have ignored/skipped the plugin update, but still it thinks the Pro plugin has the update. So it shows you the update nag. By clicking “Update” you are now updated to the free version.
I am sorry for what happened, it's a unwanted fault as WordPress.org plugin update system mixed it with different slug. We will push an update to the Pro version with latest changes, features and fixes tomorrow. In the meantime, please use the previous (v2.2.7) version.
