    Hi there,

I am using the maps facility on a form with the “show Find Address button” option.

If I add a latitude and longitude in the address field and click the Find Address button, a pin is added to the map but not in the exact place where it should go. It's close, but perhaps it points to a nearby property address, rather than the exact latitude/longitude.

Is there any way to correct this behaviour, so that when latitude/longitude is input, the marker appears in the exact latitude/longitude location?

An alternative might be to change my option on the form to “show latitude/longitude input box”, but with that selected instead of the “find address” option, when I input the latitude/longitude, the marker does not position itself on the map at all.

Is it possible to make the marker appear on the map in the way that it does with the “find address” option?

    Thanks.

    Hello James,

Can you please provide me your latitude/longitude value. I need to check myself first.

    Thanks

    Hi. Thanks for responding.

For example, this lat/long value goes to the wrong place: 52.17972808,-3.629936183

It points to a place called Trallwm Forest Cottages.

    You can try here: http://midwalesredsquirrels.org/report-a-red-squirrel-sighting/

It should point slightly north east of there – see image: http://midwalesredsquirrels.org/lat_long.jpg

    Hello James,

Where did you set this 52.17972808,-3.629936183?

Is it in the Default Coordinate field?

    Thanks

    Hi,

No. I set this in the “Type an address to find” field (front end form), just above the “Find Address” button on my site (link in previous post).

I have this in my default coordinate field: 52.175021, -3.749333

    Hello James,

What happen when you type a place name in the field? Is it showing correct coordinate and its right place?

    Thanks

When you know a place name and type it in, it appears to be in the right place.

Sometimes a place doesn't have a name, so we have to use coordinates.

It's when you type a lat/long that it point to the wrong place.

    Hello James,

Actually, it is just inheriting from the google map services. We just had created a link with google map.

Can you please insert this (52.175021, -3.749333) coordinate in google map and see what happen and let me know the result.

I am sure it will help us to find out the problem easily.

    Thanks
