Hi,

If the system applies the additional shipping cost to the downloadable product, then this is definitely wrong.

If someone is buying a physical book with a downloadable PDF version, then the shipping cost will be wrong, and there will be lots of complains and refunds.

Can you notify your developer to get this fix? Or add a feature just like Ebay, let the seller to type in the shipping cost in the product edit page. In that way, i think it is more user friendly, and less problematic.

Jacky

You are getting is wrong. You can create a downloadable product then you will see there is no option to override shipping.

Now the scenario for you- You have create variation product where one is downloadable and one is printable product. You are also using overriding option. It does not hide the override option because the parent product type is variable. So, you can use the parent shipping for your variation. Otherwise we do not have any option to do this.

Thanks.

Hi,

I still think this needs to be fixed. As again, the system applies the shipping cost to a downloadable product and i dont think my clients will accept this. This scenario may also happen to other businesses not just me, like if you are selling book, ebook, games, music etc. There are other options to do this, which i suggested earlier, simply just let the user to type in the shipping cost for each product.

By the way, can you advise the file location for the override shipping cost function?

Thanks

Jacky

Hi

Can your developer add a code to prevent the override shipping cost to apply on a virtual product as this is an error?

thanks

Hello,

In the variation you can use shipping class for variation. So, you can create a shipping class with zero price then assign the class for your downloadable product (in variation tab). Because always the system add the main product shipping rate first because when you will add a product that will check for the parent product.

Thanks.

Hi ,

This will not solve the problem as the system just applies the additional cost to the virtual product.

The problem is the system recognize the virtual product shipping cost is zero as it is a virtual and should not have any shipping cost but then it is adding the additional shipping cost on it.

This is clearly an error, can you please advise to your developer team and get this fixed? I dont want anymore arguments and more time being wasted. I just want this to be fixed.

Example 1

Default shipping price is $10
Additional shipping price is $20

If i buy both virtual and physical products

The system calculates the Total shipping cost as $10 + $20 + $20 = $50 (Which is wrong)

Example 2

Even if you set the shipping class price or default shipping price as zero

Default shipping price is $0
Additional shipping price is $20

If i buy both virtual and physical products

The system calculates the Total shipping cost as $0 + $20 + $20 = $40 (Which is wrong)

Hello,

You did not get my point. Dokan calculating shipping rate as the parent product because the parent product additional cost is $20 so it will not check in the variation for the product type is downloadable or not. So you can create a shipping class from WooCommerce for the downloadable product then use it in the variation. Our system will calculate free rate for the downloadable product when the parent product type is downloadable.

In the screenshot you can see there is a field to select shipping class. If you create a free shipping class from backend then you can select that for the downloadable product.

Thanks.

Hi,

I have tried your way by setting up a shipping class called virtual with a shipping cost of $0. Then changed the shipping class for the download version as virtual. But the problem still exist. Can you advise further on this?
