towhid I am experiencing the exact same issue as described in this support forum entry: https://wedevs.com/support/topic/contributors-and-autors-cant-create-projects/ Only Admin user can create a project from the front end. In Settings->Project Create Capability “Author” is checked. However, Authors cannot create a project on the front end because the pop-up box only displays the words “Start a new project”. This only happens on the front-end. The author can successfully create a project on the backend. Has there been a solution/fix for this issue? Thank you.

Hello Yvonne,

It has a chance of theme or plugin conflict. Please disable all other plugins except Project Manager Pro and Project Manager Frontend and switch to WordPress default theme like- Twenty Twelve, Twenty Thirteen, Twenty Fourteen and see what happen.

Thanks

Hi Towhid,

I did as suggested, activated the default theme of twenty-fourteen, disabled all other plugins except Project Manager Pro and Project Manager Frontend. The issue still exists. I not only deactivated all plugins, but I also deleted all other plugins. But still, an Author user is unable to create a project because the pop-up box does not display any dialog boxes.

Currently, the site is restricted and I am not able to provide ftp-login information.

On your server, are users with Author permissions able to create a new project while on the frontend?

As I mentioned previously, the site is restricted and I am not able to provide ftp-login info.

If you are unable to reproduce this bug on your server by, as you suggest, disabling all your plugins and use a wordpress default theme, then I am stuck.

I will use the workaround as suggested by the previous forum entry I mentioned in my initial post. Joseph Ma suggests using the User Role Editor plugin.

Perhaps it has something to do with frontend.php around line 367?
has_admin_rights() ) { ?>

Please let me know if you are able to reproduce this issue and provide fix. I would love to remove the work-around plugin.

Thanks

Hello Yvonne,

I have checked this issue but did not get any fault. I can create a project as an author from the frontend.

It will be better if you update the plugin to the new version and see what happen.

Thanks

Hi towhid,

I tried to update to WP PM Pro 1.3, but I am receiving error this error after update:
includes pro cpm php failed to open stream: No such file or directory …..

I logged into my account, downloaded and unzipped wedevs-project-manager-pro-v1.3 zip and found the cpm php file actually does not exist in the includes directory.

Please let me know when the update zip file is corrected and I will then update and let you know the status of the original issue.

Thanks,

Yvonne

Hi Towhid,

As stated previously, I am unable to provide login details as access to the site is behind a firewall.

Could you provide a WP PM Pro v1.3 update zip file that will contain the correct directory structure of:
“includes ‘slash’ cpm ‘dot’ php” so that I could update and see if that fixes the issue of author not able to create a project on front-end?

Please let me know if you understand what I wrote above makes sense to you. I could try to explain in a different manner. I could not write the file name with the actual dots and slashes because of the forum’s security rules.

Thanks

Hi towhid,

I downloaded the WP PM Pro v1.3 zip file from my account. It is the same problem as before…
“…receiving error this error after update: includes / pro / cpm . php – failed to open stream: No such file or directory …..”

Lets save some of your (and my) time; please do not ask for my ftp/login information, I am Unable to provide that information.

If you could let me know when all the bugs have been worked out of WP PM Pro v1.3 updates, and I will try again to install and test this issue of Authors cannot create a project on front-end.

Thanks,

Yvonne

Hello Yvonne,

I did not see any bug at my side. I think, In your system, some of the previous files were not removed completely when you were trying to update the plugin. Please do not update the plugin. First, remove previous project manager plugin. Now install the new file which you have recently downloaded.

Hope it will help you to get rid of the problem.

Thanks

Hi towhid,

After installing v1.3.4 this issue is now resolved.

I removed the workaround I was using (the “User Role Editor” plugin), and this issue no longer exists after update v1.3.4.

Thanks!!!

Yvonne
