When Nizam and I started dreaming about weDevs, our goal wasn’t just to build products; it was to build something that matters. We wanted to build a culture of innovation, a place where passionate people come together to create something truly meaningful.

For years, we’ve wanted to organize a hackathon that would inspire creativity across the team. Finally, that dream came true. Our first-ever weDevs Hackathon 1.0, held on October 10 and 11, 2025, felt incredibly special to me.

For two electrifying days, our office turned into a playground of ideas, caffeine, and code. The energy was contagious. You could walk through the room and feel innovation humming in the air. It wasn’t about hierarchy or titles. It was about one thing: creating something amazing together to solve real problems.

Why We Needed a Hackathon at weDevs

At weDevs, we’ve always believed that innovation doesn’t come from routine alone; it comes from curiosity. Over time, teams get busy shipping updates, fixing bugs, and meeting deadlines. It’s easy to forget the thrill of building for fun.

That’s exactly why we wanted a hackathon, a space to pause, break some rules, and rediscover why we became makers in the first place.

Hackathon 1.0 wasn’t just another company event. It was a celebration of our culture, one that values experimentation over perfection and teamwork over titles.

Everyone from developers and designers to marketers and support specialists came together to dream, build, and pitch something new.

And what made it even more special? Everyone participated spontaneously and enthusiastically. That alone made this event a success for me, even before it began.

The Build-Up: Anticipation Meets Preparation

Weeks before the hackathon, the buzz had already begun. You could see teams huddled during lunch breaks, whiteboards filling up with half-baked ideas, and Slack channels lighting up with “What if we built this?” moments.

The announcement went out with a spark:

“We’re hosting our first-ever weDevs Hackathon!”
– and that spark quickly turned into a fire. Everyone wanted to be part of it.

Note: The hackathon was officially announced for September 12–13, 2025, and later finalized for October 10–11, 2025.

We gave the teams complete freedom. No restrictions. No themes. Just one goal: build something innovative and valuable.

Meet the Trailblazers

By the time the event drew near, 14 dynamic teams had formed, each with a unique mix of developers, designers, and storytellers.

Every corner of the office buzzed with excitement. Ideas were flying, mockups were being drawn, and caffeine consumption was reaching record levels.

Day 1: Game On – weDevs Hackathon 1.0 Begins

And then, it began on October 10th, 2025, the day we’d all been waiting for.

Walking into the office that morning felt different. You could sense the tension and thrill of competition in the air. Laptops opened early. Whiteboards were already filled with notes, arrows, and code snippets.

The event officially kicked off with a few words from me and our leadership team. I reminded everyone why we were here: to push boundaries, collaborate, and most importantly, have fun while doing it.

Once the countdown began, the office transformed into something magical. Designers brainstormed interfaces. Developers debated APIs. Marketers shaped product stories and names. Everyone was in motion.

It wasn’t quiet. It wasn’t orderly.
It was beautiful chaos, the kind that only happens when passionate people chase ideas that matter.

Teams stayed late, fueled by snacks, laughter, and determination. Some refined prototypes; others pivoted halfway through. But one thing was constant – no one wanted to stop creating.

Fuel for Innovation: The Food That Kept Us Going

Of course, no hackathon runs on ideas alone. And at weDevs Hackathon 1.0, our teams were well-fed, energized, and happy throughout the two days.

From hearty breakfasts that kicked off each morning to delicious lunches that turned into mini team-bonding moments, every meal kept the spirit alive. Between coding sprints and brainstorming sessions, there were snacks, fruits, tea, and endless cups of coffee making their rounds.

It wasn’t just food, it was fuel. Every bite, every shared cup of coffee, and every snack break turned into moments of laughter, collaboration, and creative recharge. Because at the end of the day, great innovation needs great energy, and our menu had plenty of both.

Day 2: The Pitch Session – Turning Ideas into Stories

By Day 2, the tension was real. Teams were fine-tuning their presentations, fixing last-minute bugs, and polishing their demos. You could sense both excitement and nervous energy in the air.

The judging panel included me, as the CTO, our CEO, Nizam Uddin, and our CMO, Atikur Rahaman Tonmoy. Together, we brought diverse perspectives – leadership, product–market fit awareness, innovation, design quality, business potential, and technical execution. All aligned around one goal: to evaluate each idea’s innovation, execution, usability, and real-world impact.

When the presentations began, it felt like watching 14 mini-startups pitching to investors. Each team had just 5 minutes to impress, and they absolutely did.

From sleek UI demos to live prototypes, every pitch radiated passion. Some sparked laughter. Others earned applause mid-demo. A few even surprised us with out-of-the-box thinking that no one saw coming.

It wasn’t just technical brilliance. it was storytelling, teamwork, and pure creative energy.

Innovation in Action: Highlights from the Teams

What impressed me most wasn’t just the technical skill; it was the creativity.

Every team approached the challenge differently. Some focused on productivity and communication, others explored accessibility, well-being, or smarter ways to connect people with technology.

A few even ventured into bold new territories, experimenting with learning, lifestyle, and user experience innovations that pushed the boundaries of what’s possible.

Our office felt like a startup incubator, each table a mini-lab, each conversation a pitch. Every idea, no matter how big or small, carried the same spirit: to build something meaningful that makes life easier, smarter, and better.

🏆 And the Winners Are…

After thoughtful judging and discussion, it was finally time to reveal the winners.

🥇 Winner – Scenedicate

Their project stood out for its use of smart automation to solve practical, real-world challenges regarding marketing and eCommerce. From concept to execution, everything felt cohesive and well thought out. The judges were genuinely impressed by how complete and user-ready their prototype was.

🥈 1st Runner-up – Salisio

Salisio team tackled an everyday digital commerce problem with trend-driven innovation, blending creative technology with flawless execution. Their solution showed real promise for enhancing modern user experiences and making complex tasks simpler.

🥉 2nd Runner-up – DevCircuit

The third team impressed everyone with a versatile, scalable idea designed to improve content management and QA testing workflow efficiency. Their approach reflected not just technical skill, but also strong insight into how real teams work and collaborate.

When the winners were announced, the room erupted in cheers and applause. But what made me proudest was how everyone celebrated together.

Because that’s the spirit of weDevs – we grow together.

Beyond Prizes: What We Really Won

Sure, the prizes were also exciting! BDT 1,00,000 for the winner, 50,000 for the runner-up, and 30,000 for the second runner-up. But those were just numbers. The real reward was what we built together.

Hackathon 1.0 reminded us that innovation doesn’t come from directives, it comes from freedom. Freedom to explore, to fail, to collaborate, and to take ownership.

We discovered fresh talent hiding in plain sight. We saw designers writing code, developers pitching ideas, and marketers debugging. That’s the kind of cross-functional magic that defines a truly innovative culture.

Every participant also received a certificate of recognition, celebrating their creativity, effort, and contribution to this two-day innovation marathon. It wasn’t just a token; it was a reminder that every idea, big or small, matters when you’re building something together.

Lessons Learned: What the Hackathon Taught Us

Every hackathon teaches something new, not just about technology, but about people.

  • The craziest ideas often spark the best discussions.
  • Collaboration always trumps competition when the goal is shared innovation.
  • Every person, regardless of role, can contribute meaningfully when given the chance.

And the biggest takeaway?

Innovation isn’t a one-time event. It’s a mindset.

Looking Ahead: The Future of Innovation at weDevs

Hackathon 1.0 was just the beginning. It proved that when you give creative minds a sandbox, they build castles.

We’re already planning Hackathon 2.0, bigger, bolder, and even more impactful. Some of the ideas born here are already being explored for real product development.

As a founder, nothing makes me happier than seeing people push boundaries. Our goal now is to make innovation a continuous rhythm at weDevs through hackathons, internal labs, and open idea forums.

If Hackathon 1.0 was our spark, then what’s next will be the fire that fuels our next decade of growth.

A Note of Gratitude to Everyone Who Made It Possible

To everyone who participated, mentored, or helped organize – a BIG thank you. You made the weDevs Hackathon 1.0 truly unforgettable.

Special appreciation to our HR, Accounts, and Office staff for your incredible support throughout.

To the teams who didn’t win, remember, you didn’t lose either. You built, you learned, and you inspired.
That’s what innovation is all about.

And to every single person at weDevs, never stop experimenting. Never stop asking “What if?” Because the next big idea could come from you.

A Strong Start, But The Best Is Yet to Come

As I look back at weDevs Hackathon 1.0, I see more than two days of coding and pitching. I see the beginning of a culture rooted in fearless experimentation and boundless creativity.

The ideas we saw, the teamwork we witnessed, and the energy we felt will continue to shape what comes next. And if this was our starting point, imagine what’s possible when this spirit becomes part of our everyday rhythm.

weDevs Hackathon 1.0 wasn’t just an event. It was a statement.

A statement that we’re not just here to build software, we’re here to build a culture where creativity thrives, collaboration wins, and innovation never stops.

Here’s to the builders, the dreamers, and the risk-takers who made it happen. A strong start, indeed – but the best is yet to come.
