You did wrong configuration. You did not put any price in your default shipping price. You have override the parent shipping price and added additional cost $15. So when you are adding same parent product with Printed version it was adding additional quantity $15 and it was making the full cost $30. Please check.

I have just tested 2 situations:

1. Set the parent shipping cost at $10 and set override shipping cost as $15. When i buy both versions the total shipping cost is $40 (which is wrong, it should be $25)

2. Set the parent shipping cost at $10 and disable override shipping cost. When i buy both versions the total shipping cost is $10 (which is correct)

I think the problem is linked to the override shipping cost function. How can a seller set shipping cost for a particular product without using the override shipping function as the seller may want to set different shipping cost for different products. By the way, where can seller set up the shipping class? Thanks

When your product has this kind of variation (downloadable and printable) seller should not use additional cost. It will create problem like this. From the backend admin will create shipping class.

It is not counting additional cost for the downloadable product. It is counting on the parent product. Now you have create variation and one is downloadable and one is printable. So when you will add downloadable product in the cart the system will add additional cost because you have set the product type in variation.

Now, When you will add additional cost for a product it will add that cost in the cart. So, you should not override the shipping cost for a downloadable product.

To set different rate for different product they have to override the default shipping cost. They can change only the additional cost. But the country cost and default rate will be same as the main shipping settings.
