    Hi guys,

I allow users to delete their posts from their Frontend Dashboard, but when they do, the posts do not go into the Trash tab in the backend. In fact, the Trash tab does not even exist, just All, Published and Scheduled.

I am using a Custom Post Type for the user's posts.

As far as I understand, if I delete a post from the backend, the trash does appear, but if a user deletes a post, it does not appear.

Is there a way of making this show as I would like to keep track of any deleted posts.

    Thanks

    Damien

I have checked. But everything is fine here. I have delete a post from WPUF dashboard and in the backend it appears in the trash. Please provide a screenshot here.

    Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hi Nayem,

Thanks for looking into this for me.

Here is a link to an image from the backend of my site. The user's delete posts on almost a daily basis via their frontend accounts.

I have used WP User Frontend Pro for over a year now and don't actually remember ever seeing it in there. I only really noticed now because I need to start tracking what is being deleted.

    Cheers

    Hello,

I think you have made something custom “Dogs”. The post should appear default WordPress post section.

    Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hi Nayem,

Yes, that's what I mentioned in my first message, I am using Custom Post Types for the user's posts.

Any post that is created goes to one of 3 different custom post types. Surely the delete button should work in the same manner?

    Hello,

Please make sure that you have register the post type correctly. Because there should be the trash section.

    Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚

Here is a link to the CPT. From what I can tell, everything looks ok.

All my users are set up as Contributors. They have no issues with editing or deleting posts, the only issue is that the post they delete does not go to the trash can. It is as if they have the ability to delete permanently.

Were you able to test deleting a CPT from the user frontend dashboard or did you only delete a post?

    Hello,

Did you set the correct post type in the WPUF form?.

Yes, all the Dog posts have the form associated with them and also, inside post settings within the form, it is set to dogs.

There are no issues with users posting, editing or even deleting, its just that the post does not go to the trash tab.

Were you able to test deleting a CPT from the user frontend dashboard or did you only delete a post?

    Hi Nayem,

Another point to add to this.

I just created a post as a test user, using a form pointing to Posts and not CPTs. The exact same thing happened as above.

Basically, the post created fine and could be seen within Posts when I logged in as the admin. Then, I logged back in as the user and deleted the post from the front end successfully. Then, I went back into the backend as the admin and the Trash option is still not there but the post has been removed.

My users are Contributors. Could you test this process with a Contributor username and see if it works for you please?

I have tested with a user role as- contributor. But it is working fine here.

    Hi Nayen,

Thanks for taking the times to test this for me, I appreciate it.

When you deleted the post, did you do it from the front end? What could be the issue for me? I also tested as a contributor, using regular posts and WP User Fontend Pro but I do not get the trash can.

If I delete from the backend, the post does go to the backend as expected.

    Cheers

I have tested it by deleting a post from frontend. I saw that deleted post in the trash section of the backend. I have tested with the role- contributor. It is fine in the post section of WP admin panel. You can check with the default post type of backend.

    Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hi Nayem,

Yes, that is what I mentioned. All my recent tests have been with the default post type.

My initial issue was Custom Post Types, but my recent tests have all been regular posts.
