Best WooCommerce Multi Vendor Plugin For WordPress

The search for the best WooCommerce multi-vendor plugin can leave you confused with too many options. Multi vendor marketplaces have become very popular after the success of eBay, Etsy, Alibaba, Amazon and what not. So Many Options: Narrowing It Down

Enthusiastic and ambitious entrepreneurs always want better options to build the best marketplace they can offer to their customers. So, people who are planning to start a new multi-vendor marketplace often ask-

“What is the best WooCommerce multi vendor plugin for WordPress?”

You may have the same query in your mind. There are many tools available for creating a multi-vendor marketplace, but it is tough to determine which one is the best choice for your marketplace. To ease your pain, we have made the great list and compared them.

5 Best WooCommerce Multi Vendor Plugin

For WordPress, we have researched the market and found five plugins that are most suitable for creating the perfect multi vendor marketplace based on WooCommerce. They are,

  1. Dokan Multivendor Marketplace
  2. WC Vendors Pro
  3. WC Marketplace
  4. YITH Multivendor
  5. WooCommerce Product Vendors

In this article, we will review each of the plugins and finally determine which one could be the best choice for entrepreneurs to create the perfect multivendor marketplace for their business.

At first, we will discuss these plugins individually. Then, we will prepare a comparison list so that you can choose the best one by yourself.

Dokan Multivendor

Dokan is one of the most powerful multi vendor plugins powered by WooCommerce. It has advanced features to create your own Amazon, Shopify, eBay like multi-vendor marketplace within just 30 minutes. Dokan is one of a kind and provides a successful implementation of bringing WooCommerce capabilities to the frontend.

If we talk about the pro's of Dokan, the first thing that comes to mind is the rich set of admin features and a great frontend vendor dashboard. It can surely take the number one place for best WooCommerce multi vendor plugin by the sheer number of features it has and also for design. You can create the ultimate multi vendor marketplace with Dokan plugin and its premium modules. Nothing will fall short.

WC Vendors Pro

A popular multi vendor marketplace now on the market is the WC Vendors Pro. WC vendor is similar to Dokan Multivendor is many ways. However, Dokan started its journey before them. WC Vendors became popular with their unique marketing strategy and support.

They have many useful features that can provide you with a working multi vendor marketplace. WC Vendors comes with the same price as Dokan. However, the frontend is not in the rolling stages anymore. If you want the minimum capabilities of a multi-vendor marketplace with front-end feature and have a tight budget, then this plugin is the most suitable one for you.

WC Marketplace

Another new multi vendor plugin for WooCommerce is the WC Marketplace and they are also doing good. You can create a complete online marketplace using this WordPress plugin. The best part is, WC Marketplace provides its core functionality for free and you can purchase extensions if you want frontend capabilities.

WC Marketplace supports PayPal and Stripe payment gateways. They also have some more features like Dokan and WC vendors. WC Marketplace has all the core features like vendor approval capabilities, additional options for admin control, automatic scheduling for payments and also payment on withdrawal request.

Being one of the multi vendor plugins to come to the market late, they are relatively doing good.

YITH Multivendor

YITH Multivendor is another plugin that allows you to create a marketplace where other people can sell their products and get commissions for each sale. They specialize in downloadable products. Unlike Dokan and WC Vendors, YITH multivendor does not have front end dashboard for vendors. Besides that, they do not have the capabilities of adding or updating products from the frontend. However, they have another extension ‘YITH Frontend Manager for WooCommerce'. It provides frontend functionalities, but it costs additional $60 for one site.

YITH Multivendor only has PayPal payment gateway available for its customers. On the other hand, Dokan and WC Vendors supports all the WooCommerce compatible payment gateways.

WooCommerce Product Vendors

This plugin also provides multi vendor options for your WooCommerce store and an original product from WooCommerce itself. It has been updated on 2017-12-11 and much feature has been added in the last update. However, it still has a long way to go for competing with the other three.

WooCommerce Product Vendors works on the backend of your site, just like WooCommerce. It does provide multi vendor capabilities to your store, but only admin can create or update products. So, this plugin makes it hard for the Admin. However, you can install Frontend addon for this plugin with additional price and get frontend capabilities. Dokan or WC Vendors has more options than this plugin.

When you have escrow system + eBay alike feedback system for sellers send me an email.
I’ll come back and buy Dokan immediately.

  • Sekander Badsha

    Sekander Badsha

    Hello John,
We have a withdraw threshold system since the plugin was released; you can consider that as an escrow system.
We have a review feature for each product and store. Can you please be specific about exactly how you want the feedback system to work?

  • John

The withdraw threshold should work on top of the escrow.

escrow as found in freelanceengine would be a perfect fit

Feedback system should be for buyers only (way more important then random feedbacks) and most importantly it shouldn’t be a 5 star system, should be a positive, neutral or negative overall feedback – like what happens in eBay

Again, if you add these features i’m defenetely buying this.
Haven’t bought months ago because it was lacking this (in my opinion) very basic functionalities.

  • rd Limosin

    rd Limosin

hello John, can the vendors get subdomain?

  • Maz

I have an issue somewhat similar to John’s when it comes to the feedback system. It is not the star-rating that bothers me but the fact that I too believe in limiting the ability to leave reviews to buyers and to buyers only. This would drastically increase the potential customer’s trust which can make all the difference in choosing one seller/product over another. I also think that the sellers should not be able to delete/edit such reviews (I doubt that most sellers would allow negative reviews of their products, regardless of how genuine the review is, when they can easily delete/modify them? ).

I am seriously considering purchasing your plugin and the only thing that deters me from doing so is lack of the above functionality (as I understand it).

  • Sekander Badsha

    Sekander Badsha

    Hello Maz,

The review editing feature is optional and can be turned of f or on anytime. You can turn off the editing feature from your settings page.

    I have a few questions:
    1. As an admin on Dokan, I need to be able to approve vendor products before they go online. Does Dokan support this?
    2. Do I have the option to separate VAT values for products sold Non-VAT paying vendors and those who pay? for instance I have 16% for those who pay and 0% for those who dont?

  • George

I’m also seriously considering this plugin but like many others, I think for such a great product, it really should have escrow even if its as a paid extra plugin. Once it has this, it will be near enough perfect.

  • Sekander Badsha

    Sekander Badsha

    Hello Jay,
    1. Yes, you can set the default product status from settings and can approve each and every product before they appear on your site.
    2. I am not clear about this idea. Please write this idea in detail and mail us at

  • Sekander Badsha

    Sekander Badsha

    Hello George,
We do have an escrow feature. The built in system has options to set a threshold limit for each payment to be available for the vendor to withdraw.
Like an order is paid today and you have set the threshold limit in the settings is 7 days. So the seller can not request you to pay for that order before 10 October.

  • Ethan

I like to hear your thoughts on the WC Vendor Pro which has been recently released (October 1st, 2015) and seems they have most of the features that your products has.

I think you guys are the best to tell me as a buyer what are the main differences between these 2 plugins. That would help me a lot to decide which way to go.

  • Sekander Badsha

    Sekander Badsha

    Hello Ethan,
Thank you for asking. We will write a detailed review about WC Vendor Pro within next week mentioning the pros and cons in terms of Dokan.

  • Steve

Think your theme could be perfect for a little project I’m working on, but could do with some info on another WC plugin and its compatability. The plugin is WC bookings ( Will this integrate with your theme to turn it into a rental/sharing marketplace?

Also, can the coupons feature be turned on and off so that the admin can create them to give to customers/vendors for large sales numbers or being valued customers?

  • Henry Roberts

    Henry Roberts

    Hi Sekander,

I’m in a very similar position to Steve I think, I am looking to extend the functionality of a client’s website to allow people to list parking spaces to rent. I’m currently looking at WooCommerce Product Vendors, Multi Vendor Marketplace for WooCommerce, Dokan and WC Vendors Pro, and I too would be looking to integrate the system with WooCommerce Bookings. I would be keen to hear any further comments/evaluation on what might work best for this type of website.

I am just giving the lite version a try and i must admit, that it is a really really nice plugin.

    You have this one addon
    – Add product to store …

Does this also work with the products from the main shop?

Can i change the settings, so that the vendors/sellers only can add products from the mainstore and not from eachother?

    Thanks and best regards

  • Sekander Badsha

    Sekander Badsha

    Hello Steve,
WC Bookings is not compatible with Dokan frontend. That means the vendors will not be able to use the features of that plugin. The admin can create booking products from the back for the vendors.

We do not have a feature to turn off the coupons. But both the vendors and admin can create coupons from their respective dashboards. The coupons created by the admin for cart discounts will work for each any every product in the marketplace, no matter who is the vendor.

  • Sekander Badsha

    Sekander Badsha

    Hello Mathias,
The add-on you mentioned is really simple. It checks if the user role is seller, and is true, he gets to see the copy product button.
If you want to apply filters to the button, then you can hire a developer and modify the add-on.

  • Mathias Wallem

    Thanks for the reply.
Im having an issue and i just cant fix it.

When I click a store in the storelist, no products are found.
I have already configured the settings in the backend and yes, products are published 🙂 but not visible.

    1. You can use WooCommerce Invoice & Packing Slips.
    2. If you use the state based shipping in Dokan, then the sellers can set the shipping price for each product. If you want to let your sellers offer different shipping gateways and method, then you have to hire a developer.

    I have two quotations :
1- could the admin activities controlled from front-end, like control vendors, products , commission …
2- if we purchase the theme + plugin , did the add ones will be included or we should purchase it separately?

  • Sekander Badsha

    Sekander Badsha

    Hello Ezat,
    1. The admin has to control everything from wp-admin.
    2. The add-ons have to be purchased separately. We are providing 40% discount on our add-on bundle. You may consider buying that 🙂

Nice post about WooCommerce. I would like to share one recently launched Woo-commerce Plugins named WC Checkout Fields Editor. It has features as,
    ~ Supports 11 custom fields
    ~ Edit existing fields(Billing/Shipping) support
~ Remove fields & Change display field order
    ~ Product specific field visibility
    ~ Category specific field visibility
~ File upload custom field in additional settings
~ Display in Order Details page and Email
~ Cart total specific field visibility
    ~ User friendly admin panel
    ~ Restore to Default fields
    ~ Translation Ready

So I actually have compared this document to the current version of Woocomerce, and almost all of the drawbacks listed have now been implemented on woocommerce product vendors. (would love to see how your product now matches up to their updated version seeing as your price point is much higher than theirs.

Guys great plugin but i need to know whether you have worked on the fixed commissions setting that i inquired about earlier i live in a country where percentage commission wont work i wont get any sellers on my site please let me know so that i can go ahead with the purchase its long overdue. thanks a lot

  • Sekander Badsha

    Sekander Badsha

    Hey Denno,
Yes, you can take fixed commissions using our Dokan Subscription Plugin

If you’re curious to know how this add-on works, you can read the documentation

  • Itai

I like to know if i can get this with your plugin.

I like to show the visitor each product with all the vendors prices for this item.

Once he done adding products to the cart, the system will create in the background several carts (one from each vendor) and on checkout the visitor will see the best cart with the best total value.

If the Dokan cant do that and any one know about such solution i will be thank full for letting me know.

    Thank you

If that is correct, then Dokan does not have feature. You can use the search engines to check if there something like you’re looking. Most of the WooCommerce compatible plugins works out of the box with Dokan.

I recently started using Dokan but I do not find solution for my 1 issue..

After order comes in seller panel he used to print the invoices but in that invoice there is only option for our company details and Customer details. If Seller is sending the product direct to client so there should be Seller address and his contact details so is there any issue customer can directly return the product to seller. So I wanted to know whether there is option for seller address and phone number on shipping lable and invoices?

    4. Dokan PDF Invoice

and if the vendor has set his address on the dashboard settings, then the address of the vendor will be printed on the invoice.

I am interested in using the Dokan plugin along with both of the extension bundles that are offered but I’m interested in using the Social Marketplace template by Buddy Boss which is setup for use with WC Vendors Plugin I have seen in searches people have used the two together but does wedevs offer support for this combo as Buddy Boss does not?

  • Sekander Badsha

    Sekander Badsha

    Hello Sue,

I have just checked BuddyBoss site and their OneSocial theme which was used to create the Social Marketplace theme. I could not get enough information about what is it made of. So I am not sure about the compatibility.
I have emailed them inviting to collaborate with us to create an integration for Dokan too. If they respond, we will post on our social networks that we are having a partnership 🙂

If a theme is WooCommerce compatible and based on Bootstrap CSS framework, then you can use that with Dokan plugin. If some CSS fixes are needed on the store page, we provide that free of cost.

If you have the theme, you can send that to us to check.

    • Nasir

I tried out Dokan free version , the free version did not have much features to start a business, if you want to start slow then upgrade to pro Dokan is not your best friend.

Just before I want to upgrade as I could not do much with the free version, I came across WC marketplace while this article put it number 3 overall it is the number one in my opinion perfect for small business looking to upgrade once they make good sales.

WC marketplace gives you all your need and more for someone with tight budget.

The support between the two is not comparable. WC marketplace has the best ever support.

On the wordpress plugin page you will see WC marketplace has 5 stars compare to Dokan

    • Ranan Rahim

      Ranan Rahim

Well dear Sarah, Dokan and WC Marketplace are designed for very different people groups. I have checked the plugin and realized that WC marketplace is a handy plugin for managing smaller marketplaces with lesser initial budget. These are the experimental niches where people try out the business and then move on if it flies. I didn’t see any pro version of WC Marketplace on their site, which means, that’s an obstacle for the future. They only have some add-ons.
Eventually, what happens is that these marketplaces will grow exponentially and your requirements will grow as well. Then you might wish you had opted for a more elaborate plugin with big industry standard capacities – like Dokan Multivendor. So, Dokan lite (free) is designed for that experiment which can give your market an activation with the best frontend. Then upgrading to PRO and adding additional features is easy without spending for design, themes and tons of addons again. Dokan PRO is so fat with features, that most marketplaces do not need any other extension, hence the pricing is $199. As far as we have seen, people who think of creating a marketplace very seriously, they prepare with a minimum $2000 budget. See how cheap that $199 is in that contrast.
Actually, you will be surprised how many people are making money from our free plugin, which you didn’t like.
When you are comparing WC Marketplace to Dokan, you should better check out the reviews! We have received more than 14 5-star reviews just in the last 20 days!

I hope that gives you some reason to change your point of view. Afterall, it is free to try 😉

Dokan plugin looks good except for vendor registration page which a lot of people complain about. I have the same issue and i have followed all the recommendation ( allowed all users to register, deactivated all the plugin and test the registration form, i even restored my site).

The vendor registration seem to work on some devices like android phone, and won’t work on my Windows.

I switched to a different browser to seeif that will help, it worked once and when i tried it again, it did not.

Jamie from WC Vendors here. Thanks for the mention! I would like to update you on a few of the features you say that WC Vendors Pro doesn’t have that we have or always have had.

Making Announcements – We have vendor announcements for admins to display to vendors and store notices for vendors to display within their store. We have had this feature for a long time.

Store front widgets – Our next version due this week will add store widgets

Bookable products – We have a bookings extension that allows this

Seller Verification – We have this

Trusted Seller – We have this also

Product level shipping – we have and have had for a very long time product level shipping. I believe we currently have the most advanced shipping system available of all the products you have mentioned. We provide product, store and market place level shipping options. We have a flat rate (national/international) system and we have a table rate shipping. We have min/max spends, qty overrides and much more.

If you could update your table to reflect the current state that would be great. Once again thanks for the nice overview of whats on the market.

I was considering WC Vendors for a long time, but now I’m hesitant, that’s why I’m considering Dokan now >> Perhaps you can explain the following and get me to take the plunge afterall:

1.) This client was left high and dry on support half way through developing their site –

2.) This one got no resolution and was “cussed out” –

      I keenly await yor response.

      • Jamie

        Hi Joe,

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

        1. This user has requested a lot of customization that is beyond the scope of our support. They require a site admin which is not something we provide. We have installed and configured our software as best we can however it would require a lot more work to make it a complete site. We are not an agency that builds end user client sites.

        2. There is no excuse for this kind of behavior and all I can offer is my apologies as the Lead developer. I will work with our team to make sure this kind of thing doesn’t happen again. I don’t always see the support questions as only advanced topics are escalated to me. This video is well over a year old and a lot has changed in our plugin and support since then. I have rewritten and refactored over half of pro.

In regards to the comparison above I believe we are right up there with Dokan. I also believe that we are a little bit more theme agnostic than some of the others. Some themes do crazy things that we can’t avoid but almost all of them can be addressed with a bit of code. My advice, avoid Divi but every other theme seems to play nicely.

      Hi Jamie,

We have updated the comparison chart. We didn’t find those features neither in WC Vendor Pro Demo version nor your WordPress Repository when we created this blog post. Thanks for mentioning it.

It’s nice to see WC Vendors maturing in the WordPress Multivendor Industry!

      Have a nice day. 🙂

Thanks to the team for a wonderful product. Just one question before I decide on making a purchase. Is it possible for each vendor to get a subdomain or a user-friendly url eg OR

    • Mainul Kabir Aion

      Mainul Kabir Aion

      Hi Ann,

Yes, each of your vendors gets an unique URL [] for their stores. We appreciate your decision of buying Dokan Multivendor. If you need any other information, don’t hesitate to contact our support team.

    Hello guys,

Thanks for all the info in the articles and in the comments.

    1. I am looking to use dokan for two separate but linked multivendor sites , one as a regular storefront (eg and the other as a car sales portal (eg Is there a way to install dokan for both sites to be linked and for vendors and buyers to have just one login to both sites?

    2. Can dokan host auctions just like ebay?

    • Mainul Kabir Aion

      Mainul Kabir Aion

      Hi Ravi,

      Thanks for your comment.
      1. You can install dokan on subdomains but will need separate licenses. The two installation will work differently. You can link them with custom coding but please note that you won’t be able to link the transactions and other functionalities of these two separate installation.
      2. Yes, you can host auction like ebay using WooCommerce Simple Auction and Dokan simple Auction extension.

      • Shawn

Subdomain is quite interesting, even a stand alone domain for vendors. All domains should be in one system, not separated into different sites. Developers can add this feature and sell with a price, not extra license for each domain.

I’m researching multi vendor plugins and came across this post but it appears to be out of date. YITH Multi Vendor does have a Front End Manager and it looks really nice: Any chance the YITH features could be updated in your chart?

What are the key difference between wc-frontend-manager and dokan

    • Mainul Kabir Aion

      Mainul Kabir Aion

      Hi jquery,

Thank you for your query. Please understand the fact that- WC Frontend Manager is not a multi vendor marketplace by itself. It’s a third party plugin that brings other multi vendor plugins functionalities to the frontend.

On the other hand, Dokan is a fully functional multi vendor plugin with front end capabilities that do not require third party solutions for bringing its features to the frontend. Using third party solutions for this kind of tasks is harmful to your business.

I hope you understand the differences. Cheers 🙂

This could be a very helpful article, but please update the WC Product Vendors information and features, the information is incorrect.

Looking to get the dokan, as it seems the best at the moment.
But could you please link a few websites using dokan succesfully?
The links that are on the frontpage are dead websites, no trafiic, no wendors etc..

Like any example of legit a websites doing well using your plugin?

Can not find admin option to hide which fields sellers can see or other information, Wc vendors has this option ten times better… Or have i missed something?

  • Nina

Dokan has a global catalog for one multiple vendors to sell the same product now, or is it a vendor can sell for another vendor?

    Others have wizards as well.

Would you consider webkul a comparison?

    Hi there,

Did you happen to notice if any of these Multi Vendor plugins are able to share products “between” vendors? Please let me know – I was going to purchase “Product Vendors” from WC themselves, but for some reason in version 2.0 they rolled out “Only one vendor can be assigned to a product” … which is one of the key things I need! Any help / advice is greatly appreciated!

    – David.

  • Paul

Do any of these work with multisite, and allow the vendors to have their own websites too?

Were looking to give suppliers their own website, and allow them to push products to the main multi vendor marketplace.

Does Dokan support both fixed and percentage based commission/fee structures? In the comparison table it says that it has but all I can find is just percentage based. For example, PayPal and Stripe uses percentage based and fixed, fee structures so to build a useful multi-vendor platform using those payment gateways, you need a multi-vendor plugin that supports such fee/commission schemes. If Doken doesn’t support that out of the box, are there any hooks we can use?

    Thanks in advance!

    • Mainul Kabir Aion

      Mainul Kabir Aion

      Hi Pradeep,
Yes you can set either percentage based or flat rate commissions. You can read this doc for more information.

      Cheers 🙂

Thanks for the reply but I am afraid that’s not what I am looking for. Does Dokan support the ‘percentage + flat’ together, as WC Vendors does?

No it is not possible at the moment. You have to use one at a time.

I read your article and I want some recomandations.

Here is what I want to do:

    – [Seller] load a product in my shop – set a pre-sale time (2 weeks for example)

    – [Customer] buy the product, but he will not pay until pre-sale time is over

    – If the product sells at the end of pre-sale time are more than 50, the customer is notified to pay

    – the [Seller] receive 3 % per sold product automatically , or manually by me

    – The commissions to the [Seller] are sent by credit card (NO PayPal)

    – only me, the [Owner], can administrate the product status – Pending- Completed etc

I want some plugins combination that can suit my needs.

What I don’t get: almost non of those offers to split VAT between Vendor and Shop Owner. This is so essential for everyone has to pay his OWN part of taxes. Only YITH gets it right…
