Most WooCommerce SMS plugins stop at order notifications. Texty Pro goes further. It helps you verify phone numbers, capture consent, recover lost sales, and automate follow-up messages.

Texty has been sending WooCommerce order updates for free since January 2021. Today we're introducing Texty Pro, an add-on that expands Texty into a complete SMS engagement platform. Nothing you use today moves behind a paywall.

Know What Texty Already Does for Free

Texty is a WordPress plugin that sends a text when something happens in your store. It connects to Twilio, Vonage, Plivo, or Clickatell. Then it sends through your own account, at your gateway's own rates.

Texty passed 8,000 active installs on WordPress.org.

Nothing on this list moves to Pro. If you run Texty today, your setup keeps working.

  • Gateway setup for Twilio, Vonage, Plivo, and Clickatell
  • Customer order texts for six WooCommerce statuses. On hold, processing, completed, cancelled, failed, and refunded.
  • Admin order texts for five of those statuses. Processing, completed, cancelled, failed, and refunded.
  • Dokan vendor texts for the same five statuses
  • New user sign-up alerts and new comment alerts
  • SMS logs, delivery stats, and the test message tool
  • Message templates you can edit, with merge tags
  • Custom gateways and custom alert types, through developer hooks

That last point matters more than it looks. Texty ships with over 20 hooks. So a developer can add a new gateway or a new alert type without touching plugin files.

Meet Texty Pro: The Complete SMS Marketing Solution for WooCommerce

Free Texty answers one question well. What just happened in my store? Every alert it sends is a report on something already finished. That is useful, and for a lot of stores it is enough.

Texty Pro answers a different question. What should happen next? It asks customers for permission before you market to them. It checks their number is real before an order goes through. Then it sends the follow-ups that bring people back, on a schedule you set.

Pro installs beside the free plugin rather than over it, so nothing above changes. Here is what gets added.

1. Capture Consent Before Marketing Texts Go Out

Texty Pro adds a consent box to your WooCommerce checkout. It then saves a record of what the customer agreed to. A simple yes is rarely enough. Regulators want to see what the customer actually read. The thinking matches a proper GDPR consent form, only at checkout.

So Pro saves six things against the order.

  • The consent choice
  • The time it was given
  • The exact label shown at checkout
  • The exact disclaimer shown at checkout
  • The customer IP address
  • The customer browser details

Saving the label and disclaimer as a snapshot solves a real problem. Say you reword your checkbox next year. Old records still show the wording those customers saw.

You control the label, the disclaimer, and whether the box starts ticked. Stores in the EU usually want it unticked. A live preview shows how it looks before you save. Both the classic checkout and the newer block checkout work.

One limit is worth knowing upfront. Consent saves for logged-in customers only. Guest orders have no user record to attach it to, so Pro skips them by design.

2. Verify Phone Numbers at Three Points

Texty Pro sends a one-time code and checks it before the customer moves on. You can turn each of the three triggers on by itself.

  • Checkout. The order waits until the phone number is confirmed. A guests-only mode checks new shoppers and leaves your regulars alone.
  • Sign-up. This works on the WordPress login page and the WooCommerce My Account form. Once checked, the number saves to the user and fills in their billing phone.
  • Profile. This fires only when someone changes their billing phone. It does not fire every time they save the form.

Codes can be 4, 6, or 8 digits. They can be numbers or numbers plus letters. The letter set drops I, O, 0, and 1 so nobody misreads a code. Codes last from 1 to 60 minutes. Resend waits run from 10 to 600 seconds.

The security work sits underneath. Codes are hashed, never stored as plain text. Five wrong tries burn the code. Each IP address gets 10 sends and 30 tries per hour.

Also, these checks run through your normal gateway send. Pro does not push you into a separate verify service with its own per-check price.

3. Automate Follow-Up Texts Across Six Areas

This is the biggest change in Texty Pro. It moves the plugin into a new category. Free Texty reacts the moment an order status changes. Automations work on their own logic instead. They carry delays, limits, and a cap on how many reminders anyone gets. These run next to your email automation rather than replacing it.

The triggers group into six areas.

Recover Stalled Orders

Two triggers chase payments that never went through. One follows up on failed or pending payments. The other reminds customers about orders left on hold. Both take a delay and a reminder limit. So nobody gets texted five times about one order.

Note that these triggers only handle orders that already exist. Carts abandoned before checkout are a separate problem, and weDevs covers that one with CartPulse.

Alert Shoppers on Stock and Price

Back-in-stock texts go out when an item returns. Price-drop texts fire when a product gets cheaper. You set a minimum drop percent, so a tiny change does not trigger a text.

Follow Up After Purchase

Three triggers live here. Review requests send after a delay you set in days. Note alerts go out when someone adds a note to an order. Expiry reminders warn customers before a licence or download runs out.

Bring Customers Back

Welcome texts greet first-time buyers. Win-back texts reach people who have not ordered in a while, and you set how long that is. Reorder nudges prompt a repeat purchase, with a cooldown so the same person is not nudged again and again.

Warn Customers About Account Changes

Security texts tell customers when something changes on their account, like a password reset. The default message reads “Your {site_name} password was just changed. Not you? Contact us immediately.”

Alert Your Own Team About Stock

Low stock and out of stock texts go to your team, not your shoppers. These are the only triggers aimed at your own numbers.

Every trigger ships with default copy and its own merge tags. A welcome text can read “Welcome to {site_name}, {first_name}. Thanks for your first order.” You can edit all of them.

Decide Whether You Need Texty Pro

Plenty of stores should stay on the free plugin. We would rather say so than sell you something you will not use.

Stay free if you only need customers, admins, and vendors to get order updates. That is the whole job the free plugin does, and it does it in full.

Go Pro if any of these sound like you. You send promo texts and need consent records that hold up. You get fake orders or junk sign-ups and want real phone numbers. Or you want texts that recover failed payments and win people back, not just texts that report what already happened.

Marketplace owners sit in an odd spot here. Dokan vendor alerts are free. So a marketplace that only needs vendor alerts does not need Pro at all.

Compare Texty Pro Pricing – Yearly and Lifetime

Texty offers flexible pricing for businesses that want to add SMS notifications, verification, and automation to their WordPress or WooCommerce sites. You can choose between yearly subscriptions and lifetime plans, depending on your budget and how long you plan to use the plugin.

PlanYearly PriceLifetime PriceSites
Starter$49/year$1991
Professional$99/year$4495
Business$199/year$899100

The Starter plan is designed for a single website and covers the core features needed for SMS consent and verification.

The Professional plan supports up to five websites, making it a better fit for growing businesses and small agencies. It also unlocks more advanced notification, verification, and automation features.

For agencies and businesses managing multiple websites, the Business plan supports up to 100 sites. At $199 per year, it offers the lowest annual cost per site among the paid plans.

If you plan to use Texty for several years, the lifetime plans can offer better long-term value. The one-time payment removes the need for annual renewals while giving you access to the selected plan's features.

Frequently Asked Questions About Texty Pro

Will my current alerts break when I turn on Pro?

No. Pro reads your current settings and adds new screens beside them. Texty Pro needs the free plugin active, because it extends Texty rather than replacing it.

Does Texty Pro add more SMS gateways?

No. Pro works with the same four gateways as the free plugin. Twilio, Vonage, Plivo, and Clickatell. If you need another one, a developer can add it through the texty_register_gateways hook on the free plugin.

What happens if a guest ticks the consent box?

The consent will not save. Records attach to a user account, and guest orders have none. Stores that rely on consent records should ask shoppers to create an account.

Can I stop Texty from sending real texts on a staging site?

Yes. The texty_pre_send_sms filter cancels a send when it returns anything other than null. A few lines in your functions file will block texts on staging.

Which gateway costs least for my customers' country?

That depends on where you send. Rates differ by country and by gateway. Check current prices at Twilio, Vonage, Plivo, and Clickatell for the countries you ship to before you pick one.

Do Dokan vendors need to set anything up?

No. Texty spots Dokan on its own and pulls each vendor's phone number from their store profile. Vendors do nothing.

Get Started With Texty Pro

Texty spent five years doing one job exceptionally well: keeping everyone informed about what had already happened in your store. Texty Pro builds on that foundation. It doesn't replace the free plugin or lock existing features behind a paywall. Instead, it helps you influence what happens next.

If you're new to Texty, start with the free plugin. Connect your SMS gateway, send yourself a test message, and let it run for a few days. Once you're confident every message reaches the right people, add one Pro automation.

Start with payment recovery. Those customers were already close to buying, so even a small improvement can pay for the upgrade. Then expand into review requests, win-back campaigns, and the other automations as your store grows.

That's the difference between sending notifications and building customer relationships. Texty tells customers what happened. Texty Pro helps shape what happens next.
