This is what happened:

I’ve pushed update to the free WP User Frontend plugin, since the plugin folder name is different for Pro (wp-user-frontend-pro) and Free (wp-user-frontend) plugins, should have ignored/skipped the plugin update, but still it thinks the Pro plugin has the update. So it shows you the update nag. By clicking “Update” you are now updated to the free version.

I am sorry for what happened, it’s a unwanted fault as plugin update system mixed it with different slug. We will push an update to the Pro version with latest changes, features and fixes tomorrow. In the meantime, please use the previous (v2.2.7) version.

Hey Paul,

I know you are angry, but we took the measurement to prevent such kind of errors. If you see our plugin, you would find this line:
// add reCaptcha library if not found
if ( !function_exists( ‘recaptcha_get_html’ ) ) {
require_once dirname( __FILE__ ) . ‘/lib/recaptchalib.php’;

We only load the reCaptcha library if it’s not present in entire WordPress plugin system. But the thing is, your theme is being loaded after all the plugins are loaded. So also your theme should have checked if the reCaptcha library is present anywhere or not, so it’s your themes fault.

Because you are our customer, @Nayem already offered you for help to fix this issue and it’s a 1 line fix, so shouldn’t take more than few minutes.

Life time means as long as you are our customer and our business exists, you will get update and support. From a custom point of view thats great. But think from a business perspective, it’s not a viable business model.

You bought the plugin because you love life time license, we are not moving that away from you. Existing customers will have the life time license active, it just affects the new customers.

I am not sure why you are mad, just because we changed the model? Whats wrong with changing business model, I am not entirely sure. Customers purchased the license after new the model introduced, they saw it as it is right now and they purchased agreeing that. Only one problem is that new customers won’t get the life-time plan.

Iโ€™m sure you would love to see things like this quietly die behind the walls of a support login, which is exactly why these things need to bubble up out of their confines so people understand how some companies treat their customers.

Previously our support threads were accessible only behind login, but now you can view the threads as a guest as well. About treating the previous customers, I believe we are doing it as nothing changed.

Hi Ansel, sorry for the trouble. Your license validity is life time, but as we have changed the model to 1 year support/update, somehow your account was affected too. I am reverting back that settings for you ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for the headsup. Seems like there was actually some problem, will push the fix in the new version.

The bitbucket issue tracker was open, but people started using it as a support forum and feature request. So we had to close it.

PayPal sends several status messages as IPN for recurring payments. That function only handles the normal subscription packages. For recurring payments, when we get those IPN statuses from PayPal, only then we handle the subscriptions, not when the order status changes.

We haven’t add any permission checking on the files tab, true. If we add a permission settings for files (who can see files and who can’t), will that be helpful to you? In this case, we don’t have any ETA, but we would love to fix that

No, they can’t have multiple packs. If you purchase another pack, it will replace the existing subscription detail. So ultimately you will have only 1 subscription.

1) The subscription plugin is for sellers, not for subscribers. And only one pack can be purchased once at a time.

2) Yes, obviously. Those informations are stored in user meta, so you can take advantage to show conditional informations if you like.

3) It’s for WooCommerce, if we release a version for EDD, it’ll work for sure ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thanks for the suggestions Lahcen, could you post a screenshot of the transaction lists from PayPal. And I guess you authorize the payments first in PayPal, then you finally purchase the products? That way PayPal can create as many transactions they want?

Both of these extensions are opt-in/opt-out based. Although we haven’t provided any settings for these, but mailchimp and mailpoet sends the automatic opt-in email to confirm the subscriptions. Thats how far it goes.
